Internal Door Lock Guide

There are three main types of door handles, each distinguished by their unique function. Below, we explain the features and uses of each type to help you choose the right one for your needs.

Privacy Handles

Privacy levers allow for locking your lever from inside. There are two systems used for this. Push buttons use a small pin that are pushed down to lock the lever. While turn knob systems must be rotated to lock or unlock a lever from inside. Both systems have methods to open the lock from the outside in case of emergency as required by law. Best for bathrooms and bedrooms.

Passage Levers

Passage Levers enable doors to close and function normally but with no ability to lock the door in anyway. These locks are best for families with young children.

Entrance Levers

Entrance Levers work the same as privacy locks except that they require a key to open the lever from the outside. Great for home offices and doors leading to garages.
