Blockboard or MDF infill

DuraXP flush doors are available in two standard constructions: blockboard and MDF infill. Each option offers unique advantages depending on your project needs, finish preferences, and installation requirements.

✅ Blockboard DuraXP Doors

Blockboard doors feature a core made from solid timber blocks laminated together. This construction allows for easy custom sizing, meaning doors can be cut down without compromising structural integrity. They're also widely stocked and typically available for same-day pickup or delivery within a few business days if custom ordered.

Benefits of blockboard doors:

  • Excellent durability — ideal for external use

  • Strong screw-holding capacity for hinges and hardware

  • Fast availability and on-site modifications

  • Lightweight and easy to install

Considerations:

  • Not ideal for high-end paint finishes due to the timber grain pattern

  • May require more prep work if a smooth painted surface is desired

✅ MDF Infill DuraXP Doors

MDF infill doors are made with a solid medium-density fiberboard core, offering a smooth, uniform surface ideal for painted finishes. These doors provide a high-end aesthetic and are perfect for interior applications where a refined look is a priority.

Benefits of MDF infill doors:

  • Superior paint finish

  • Dense core offers good sound insulation

  • Seamless, uniform appearance

Considerations:

  • Cannot be trimmed beyond 3mm on any side — custom sizing required for further cutting which must be ordered precisely

  • MDF is prone to swelling if exposed to moisture

  • Heavier, making installation difficult

  • Not recommended for wet areas or exposed external use

🛠️ Which DuraXP Door Is Right for You?

  • Choose Blockboard for flexible sizing, fast availability, and external durability

  • Choose MDF Infill for a premium paint finish and interior use where moisture exposure is minimal
